Summer 2013

After many broken promises to draft a new blog post, the overwhelming guilt has now forced me to begin blogging about our summer.  A special thank you to all of you that have guilted me into this.

I am fairly certain we chose the busiest day of the year to visit the zoo.  We circled the parking lot for 15 minutes before finding a parking spot.  Luckily the annoyances drifted away once Delaney was pointing fingers at animals.

Painted Hills

In July the Chesnuts and the Wheelers took an expedition to the John Day Fossil beds.  The fishing was supposed to be excellent and it wasn't.  The weather was supposed to be hot and it was.  We set up camp at the river front park in Spray lessening the chances of rattle snake confrontations.  On the other hand the river flowing through the park was far from a clean wilderness experience, so we were forced to go exploring.   We managed to squeeze in some hiking and swimming in between the hours of bad fishing and hot naps.

Is that beer in a box?

Hiking Blue Basin.
Packing Delaney and carrying Arnie over metal bridges in sandals proved to be more of an endurance test than expected.

a geological wonder!

In August the family was in Monmouth for Kira's birthday.  It also happened to be Polk county fair weekend.

Laney, Arnie and I have hiked the Walla Walla river trail a couple times this month and I have managed to forget the camera both times.  Argg.

Tonight Delaney had her first hair cut.  She was dead still and stone faced until she was bribed with candy for a picture with a smile.

I am sure some time in 2014 there will be a new post...-Matt

A very late Chesnut catch up teaser...

Seattle Aquarium

Happy New Year!!!  I will begin by apologizing to all our loyal fans, sorry, I can find just about anything better to do than typing on a computer so this is kind of a big deal...  It has been a while and I have no idea where to begin so I am going to go look for some pictures for inspiration, put them on this chronicle (in chronological order), and provide you with some sort of captions.

yup it was cool

Everett and Delaney meet at Great Grandma and Grandpa's.

Grandma Cathy and Laney pondering the
meaning of life.

Delaney, Preston, and Kelvin on Halloween I am guessing?
out of 5 pictures in the 10 seconds they posed, this was
the only remotely usable picture

I am not sure what this game is that GG
is playing, but it seems Delaney is
enjoying it, and how bout that belly...

Two words:  CHRISTMAS JAMMIES!

Who wants some candy?

I think we caught the only moment
she smiled while she painted
eggs with this image, she
concentrates so hard
she looks angry.

Photo update

First, I must apologize for the laziness that I am responsible for with The Chesnut Chronicles.  We have been busy with one thing or another, so I have decided to update you all with photos and captions in chronological order of course.

Laney and I catching and observing Bull Trout in early January.  As we were standing in the middle of the river I noticed Laney's custom knit boot made by her aunt Mariah floating down stream of me at a high rate of speed.  And then it was gone...

We had our first official game night in February.
It was a handful with all the kids, but
the guys managed to beat the gals.  I
am sad to say that the gals dominated the
guys in the second official game night...

Delaney started her first swimming lessons in February.  Lora was with her on Tuesday nights and I had Thursdays.  She obviously enjoys the pool.

On February 11th we celebrated Delaney's first birthday at my parents house with lots of family.  The ladies did a great job decorating and baking.  Thanks to all the family that traveled so far to come.

Last weekend we had a guys weekend fishing trip at the Coe cabin.  Jeff and Carl won the card games and I caught a few fish, but no steelhead.  The high point of the trip was hitting drivers off doug bar road, a couple thousand feet above the Imnaha river.  Shows how good the fishing was when play golf instead.  Jason Peterson is hitting and Jeff Bishop and Carl Wheeler are shivering in the gallery.

Today Laney took her first serious steps.  She has taken steps before, but it was much more purposeful and extended today.  And yes I realize my movie production skills are less than stellar...  Apparently I cant rotate hd video...
