Summer 2013

After many broken promises to draft a new blog post, the overwhelming guilt has now forced me to begin blogging about our summer.  A special thank you to all of you that have guilted me into this.

I am fairly certain we chose the busiest day of the year to visit the zoo.  We circled the parking lot for 15 minutes before finding a parking spot.  Luckily the annoyances drifted away once Delaney was pointing fingers at animals.

Painted Hills

In July the Chesnuts and the Wheelers took an expedition to the John Day Fossil beds.  The fishing was supposed to be excellent and it wasn't.  The weather was supposed to be hot and it was.  We set up camp at the river front park in Spray lessening the chances of rattle snake confrontations.  On the other hand the river flowing through the park was far from a clean wilderness experience, so we were forced to go exploring.   We managed to squeeze in some hiking and swimming in between the hours of bad fishing and hot naps.

Shower Time!

Hiking Blue Basin.
Packing Delaney and carrying Arnie over metal bridges in sandals proved to be more of an endurance test than expected.

a geological wonder!

In August the family was in Monmouth for Kira's birthday.  It also happened to be Polk county fair weekend.

Laney, Arnie and I have hiked the Walla Walla river trail a couple times this month and I have managed to forget the camera both times.  Argg.

Tonight Delaney had her first hair cut.  She was dead still and stone faced until she was bribed with candy for a picture with a smile.

I am sure some time in 2014 there will be a new post...-Matt
